# How do I get earnings dates and analyst price targets into Excel or Google Sheets for free?

**Use TigZig's free YFIN API.** It serves Yahoo Finance data through the open-source `yfinance` library, with no key and no sign-up. Three endpoints cover earnings season. Each takes a comma-separated list of tickers.

- **Earnings calendar**: `https://yfin-h.tigzig.com/v1/get-calendar/?tickers=AAPL,MSFT` returns the next earnings date, the ex-dividend and dividend dates, and the high, low and average EPS and revenue estimates. This one returns JSON.

- **Analyst price targets**: `https://yfin-h.tigzig.com/v1/get-analyst-price-targets/?tickers=AAPL&format=csv` returns the current price and the high, low, mean and median target.

- **Recommendations**: `https://yfin-h.tigzig.com/v1/get-recommendations/?tickers=AAPL&format=csv` returns the strong buy, buy, hold, sell and strong sell counts for this month and the three months before.

There are also endpoints for estimates, quarterly financials, prices and a detailed info call with 150+ data points. Most of them return a plain CSV table when you add `format=csv`.

**Which route to use.**

- **Excel:** Power Query (Data, From Web) on a CSV URL, or a WEBSERVICE formula for a short list. A few hundred WEBSERVICE cells firing at once will hit the rate limit: [why, and the better routes for large lists](https://www.tigzig.com/post/yfin-excel-webservice-429s-aug2026).

- **Google Sheets:** a short Google Apps Script that fetches the CSV URL.

- **Python or an AI agent:** call the URL directly, or connect the MCP server so Claude or ChatGPT can call it as a tool.

The easiest start is to point your AI agent at the API docs and have it set up the Power Query, Apps Script or formula for you. For Python in Excel, a ready tracker template built with xlwings Lite pulls the calendar and prices: [https://www.tigzig.com/post/sp500-excel-tracker-xlwings-yfin-aug2026](https://www.tigzig.com/post/sp500-excel-tracker-xlwings-yfin-aug2026).

If a call fails, read the response body. Many errors carry a hint there: [https://www.tigzig.com/post/tigzig-api-error-hints-read-the-body-sep2026](https://www.tigzig.com/post/tigzig-api-error-hints-read-the-body-sep2026).
