Is there a free news headlines API or MCP server for AI agents?

Yes. TigZig's news API returns Jev-ranked headlines from 66 feeds, free, with no key and no signup. It works over REST and as an MCP server, so an AI agent can call it directly.

What you get. Headlines from feeds such as Bloomberg, CNBC, the BBC, the Economic Times, Mint, the Fed and the ECB. Each item has the link to the original, the source, the category, the time and a relevance score from 0 to 1. Jev, TypeSafe's decision model, scores each headline once when it arrives, for one fixed default reader: a macro and credit analyst covering the US, India and global markets. The API cannot change that reader. On the News page of TREMOR you can set your own interests or a focus, and Jev re-ranks there.

Top 10 by relevance over the last day:

Parameters. sort=best ranks by relevance and the default is newest first. category= takes values such as us_markets, global_fin, india, world, central_bank, research, tech, ai_tech and cyber. q= searches the headline text. Results cover the last 24 hours unless you set since=, which goes back up to 7 days, and before= pages further back. limit defaults to 30 and goes up to 500.

MCP server. https://api.tigzig.com/news/mcp is a Streamable HTTP server for Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Cursor and n8n. It has one tool, get_news.

Limits and notes. One IP can send 60 requests a minute. Reuters and AP links go through news.google.com, which a browser follows and a fetch-only agent may not. Headlines and links belong to their publishers.
