What is surveillance and how does it work: NSE Surveillance Measures - GSM, ASM, ESM Explained
Where the 667 actually sit
Surveillance is largely a small and micro cap story.
- 20 are in the Nifty 500. Of those, 2 are in the Nifty 100 and none in the Nifty 50.
- 24 more are in the Microcap 250.
- The remaining 623 are outside the Nifty Total Market, the 750 stock universe that is Nifty 500 plus Microcap 250.
- Of those 623, roughly 171 are on the SME platform and 41 are in the suspended or Z group. The rest is the long tail of the main board.
Plus a company can carry several flags at once. They measure different things. ASM, GSM and ESM are price and volume surveillance. Separately there are fundamental ones. Inside the Nifty Total Market 750, 5 companies carry two flags and none carry three or more. Across all 667: 62 carry two, 27 carry three, 4 carry four.
