SIF (Specialized Investment Funds) is the newest fund category in India and growing fast, nearly doubling in three months to an AUM of Rs 23.2K crore at the end of July from Rs 12.3K crore at the end of April. For analysts wanting to dig into it, every SIF NAV that AMFI has published is now downloadable in full at sif.tigzig.com. CSV and parquet, refreshed twice a day.

A few quick points on SIF naming and branding

You will not recognise any of the 17 fund house names. SEBI requires a SIF to carry a distinct brand name and logo, separate from the AMC's regular mutual fund business.

ICICI Prudential's SIF is called iSIF, SBI's is Magnum, Kotak's is Infinity.

To identify the sponsor, the SIF code will not help, it is a running number and nothing more. The ISIN will. Each SIF scheme's ISIN carries the sponsor's issuer prefix, the same first seven characters that sit on that AMC's regular mutual fund ISINs. INF174K is Kotak on a SIF scheme and on a Kotak mutual fund alike, INF109K is ICICI Prudential, INF200K is SBI.

If you are going to work with this data, build that mapping once and keep it. Seventeen rows, prefix to AMC, and you only redo it when a new fund house turns up. The scheme master on the site carries both ISINs, so you can build it straight off the download.

This is based on my observation. It held on all 17 when I checked it.

The SEBI Master Circular

For the source, the SIF framework now sits inside the SEBI Master Circular for Mutual Funds as on 20 March 2026, Chapter 21, pages 296 to 311. It consolidates the original circular of 27 February 2025.

A few important clauses:

21.2.1 requires a SIF to have a distinct brand name and logo, separate from the AMC's regular mutual fund. The sponsor's name can appear in offer documents for five years from approval, the brand itself has to stand apart.

21.3.2 permits only one investment strategy per category. That is why a fund house plus a strategy is a fund, and it is how AMFI counts them.

21.4.1 sets the minimum at Rs 10 lakh per investor at PAN level, aggregated across all strategies of that SIF, and it does not count what the investor holds in the same AMC's regular schemes.

A few more numbers

SEBI permits seven investment strategies for a SIF and two of them have no funds at all. Both are the debt ones.

The money is concentrated in one strategy. Hybrid Long-Short holds about Rs 15,400 crore of the Rs 23,200 crore total, roughly two thirds of it, from 11 of the 30 schemes AMFI counted at the end of July.

Net inflows in July alone were about Rs 4,900 crore, and the folio count was 94,447 at the end of the month.

The AUM figures come from AMFI's SIF Monthly Report, which is a separate file from the daily NAV feed and comes out within about ten working days of month end. July is the latest one published. The files on the site carry the daily NAV and the scheme master, they do not carry AUM.
