TREMOR. Six Free Tools for Banking and Insurance Analysts. Multi-Layer Validated. Built by a Practitioner.

Published: May 22, 2026

Tools for banking and insurance analysts. Built by a practitioner. Multi-layer validated. Free. Six tools. Primary sources only - FDIC, NCUA, NY Fed, FFIEC, Fed Z.1, FRED. All on tigzig.com → TREMOR.

Data ingestion, UI, backend... all manageable and fast with Claude Code. The hardest and slowest part was validating it.

An NCO chart looks different for an auto loan vs. cards vs. mortgage... and certain relationships need to hold across KPIs.

Identifying abnormal patterns, digging, fixing, running validations... again and again... till I was comfortable signing off on each chart.

And then the nuances in the regulatory reports themselves: NCUA reports charge-offs year-to-date - has to be de-cumulated to chart quarterly. NY Fed revises back-data, so a pure incremental refresh won't work. FDIC late-filers drift against their own QBP totals... the list goes on.

...and then what looks like an error in the regulator's own report: YTD charge-off showing an impossible mid-year decrease, with nothing offsetting it... flagged in validations.

Issues that need to be handled before a chart or tool is usable.

Every Tremor tool carries a Validations tab. Three layers deep.
